Emergency Management Preparation
In concert with the Charter Township of Clinton http://www.clintontownship.com/ , the board publishes this emergency management section with web links as a supplement and quick guide to more directly coordinate preparedness, relief, response and recovery activities for emergency or disaster situations within our community.
While the Township has done an outstanding job of developing the Preparedness Guide, the board felt it necessary to emulate that information on this site. Please refer to the following references:

Tornado Preparation
Outdoor Warning Sirens: The township maintains sixteen (16) voice and tone activated, outside warning sirens. Tested each month on the first Saturday at 1 p.m., they are used to gain the attention of the public who are outdoors. The sirens are activated for severe weather under warning circumstances only.
The alert tone is a 3.5 minute steady blast. Multiple siren activations in a short period of time means multiple tornados have been reported. There is no all-clear signal.
Tornado Watch: A Tornado or Severe Thunderstorm Watch is issued whenever conditions exist for severe weather to develop. This is the time to prepare by listening to your local radio or television station for weather updates.
Tornado Warning / Winds 70 MPH or Higher: This is issued whenever a tornado or severe thunderstorm has naturally been sighted or strongly indicated on radar. This is the time to take appropriate cover immediately, preferably in the lowest level possible in a home or building.
